A job in a marketing agency might have some parallels to building websites as well. As a copy writer you write short texts that fill a website with information. Writing persuasive and compelling texts is a skill in itself.
Or as content marketer you write longer-form texts like blog articles. Here the idea is that people search for a topic that is answered by the article on a search engine. These website visitors might become aware of the product or service of the website and become customers. Here is a good video on the topic.
Such website visitors are all also referred to as search traffic and if they become customers this transition is called a conversion. The process of improving a website to rank higher on search engines is called search engine optimization (SEO).
